What is a Grant?

A foundation grant is monetary assistance provided to charitable organizations. Each year, a foundation is required to provide at least 3.5% of its capital as grants to deserving organizations within the community.  The money awarded as a grant is designated for specific projects that benefit the community, and is not required to be repaid. Guidelines for granting are mandated by the foundation and ensure that deserving organizations receive the help they need in achieving their goals to build and strengthen the community.

The Carman Area Foundation invites grant applications in January each year, and awards its grants at the Foundation’s annual celebration in April.
